Guidelines for Maximizing Biodiversity on Golf Courses

  • A leading publication providing practical guidelines for maximizing biodiversity on golf courses is now available on the IGOLF website.
The 60-page book, Guidelines for Maximizing Biodiversity on Golf Courses, was written by John R. MacKinnon, then of the ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation, and Cheryll T. Manzano Patulot, of the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club. Ms. Manzano is a member of the IGOLF Council of Experts. It was published by the ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation, a joint cooperation project between ASEAN and the European Union.
The practical book includes section on general principles, water conservation, use of chemicals, habitat management in in-play and out-of-play areas, species management, and promoting conservation ethics among the membership. While it is of particularly help to managers of golf courses in tropical Asia, the book’s guidelines and practical suggestions can be applied worldwide.
