Course description

The Golf de Lavaux, which opened in 1999, is built on 62 hectares situated in the hills above the beautiful Lac Léman (Lake of Geneva), in immediate proximity to the protected vineyards of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is composed of a championship 6,107 meter 18-hole course designed by Peter Harradine as well as a six-hole practice course, driving range and a putting and chipping facility, full service restaurant and modern clubhouse. The golf course is open from March until November.

Special features/accolades

The Golf de Lavaux is affiliated with and maintains close relations the Association Suisse de Golf (The Swiss Golf Association), Association Suisse de Golfeurs Independents (The Swiss Independent Golfers Association as well as diverse organizations linked with the environment such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and agriculture (Association pour la protection des terres agricoles du Canton de Vaud, Station cantonale d'arboriculture) (The Agricultural and Forest Protection Authority of the Canton of Vaud).

Key Achievements

   Environmental

  • The Golf de Lavaux was founded after long discussions and agreements with the regional farmers and ecologists and has since embraced and practiced sustainable environmental practices on its magnificent site in the hills of the Lavaux region of the Swiss Romande. In addition to using environmentally friendly chemicals and organic treatments to maintain the course, they have also developed an innovative program with local farmers for composting. The farmers cut the grass and use it as feed for their cattle then the manure from the cows is used for fertilizer for the golf course creating a closed circuit system. The course has dedicated five hectares (more than 10% of the playing surface) as "ecological zones" from which the golfers do not have the right to enter or play their shots.
The Golf de Lavaux supports the national Rare Trees Initiative (Pro specie rara d’arboretum) which was established to protect the flora and fauna of the region. There are many species of protected ancient trees to be found on the golf course.

   Social/Community

  • The Golf de Lavaux has an active Juniors Program, which allows young people from the region to be introduced to the game of golf at a very reasonable cost. In addition, the Golf de Lavaux maintains excellent relations with its neighbors and adjoining farms.

Philosophy
"Un esprit, une passion", tel est le slogan du Golf de Lavaux. Peut-être pourrions-nous rajouter "une responsabilité", car nous mettons déjà en oeuvre les principes mis en avant par IGOLF. Nous vous attendons avec plaisir dans notre club et sur notre parcours !
(The slogan of the Golf de Lavaux is “A spirit, a passion”. Perhaps we should add “a responsibility” because we are committed to and take seriously the IGOLF principles. We welcome you to our club and course.)
