Special features/accolades
- Phokeethra Golf Krabi is a sister golf course of Phokeethra Country Club in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which is an IGOLF Laureate Course.
- Phokeethra Golf Krabi is managed by Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort, with 276 rooms and suites. The resort includes Le Spa, the first branch of this French spa brand in Asia/Pacific.
- Many other resort facilities – bars and restaurants, largest swimming pool in Krabi, luxury yacht and speedboat for guests, cooking school.
Key achievements in environment/social activities
- The course was designed to respect the original nature of the land and minimize the impact on the neighboring community and environment.
- The course architect is Major General Weerayudth Phetbuasak who also designed Phokeethra Country Club in Siem Reap, which is an IGOLF Laureate Course.
- The course primarily uses rain water, which is collected in cisterns and then reused for gardening and course maintenance.
- The course also uses grey water from the resort and golf course clubhouse.
- The course does not use municipal water from Krabi city.
- No old and large trees were removed during construction; these were included in the course layout as natural obstacles.
- Walking-only course, no buggies.
- Extensive waste reduction and recycling program.
- The resort built a pipeline to get additional water from an underground source on a nearby hill. This water is shared with people in the local village, providing them with water during the entire year.
- Only use organic fertilizer.
- Regularly planting a variety of trees and vegetation to promote biodiversity.
- Preliminary biodiversity census indicates that there is more, and more diverse, wildlife than previously, not only birds but also wild boar and deer.
Philosophy
"Our philosophy is to protect and enhance the environment through the operations of every department of the golf course and resort. We also want to promote Krabi Province and provide long-term careers for our staff, with many opportunities for advancement."
