IGOLF is pleased to welcome New Kuta Golf as its first Laureate Course in Indonesia. “The course has rehabilitated a barren site, and has taken innovative steps to ensure that the water needed for the course is not taken from the water table, but is provided by desalination. Also, the course is developing its own wind and solar power systems. And they provide employment, with health insurance, to members of the surrounding communities who work at the course.” says Paul Sochaczewski, IGOLF chairman.
New Kuta Golf has also preserved and upgraded four temples in the golf course area, working closely with the local community and religious leaders.
”Our goal is to create an environmentally friendly golf course of the highest standard, and respect the local community, including the provision of a maximum number of jobs.” says Suprapto Pegeng, New Kuta Golf Operational Director
The course’s architect, Ron Fream of GolfPlan, is a member of the IGOLF Council of Experts.
